An Indonesian Marriage: Bali is part of the Republic of Indonesia. Tourist and visitors of Bali have to comply with the Indonesian laws. All couples that like to marry in Bali have to declare a religion, Agnosticism and Atheism are not recognized by Indonesia. Both partners must have the same religion, and when a person want to adapt the religion of the partner, the person who want to change religion need to bring a written declaration of the change of religion.
There are 5 recognised religions in Indonesia: Christian-Catholic, Christian-Protestant, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist. Every wedding in Bali consists of a Religious and a Civil part. The religious part of the wedding has to be completed first. Christian, Hindu and Buddhist weddings can be performed in a church or temple. After the religious marriage ceremony, every non-Islamic marriage has to be registered with the Civil Registry Office (Kantor Catatan Sipil). An Islamic religious wedding has to be performed by the Office of Religious Affairs (Kantor Urusan Agama) during a ceremony in a mosque.
This is not an obstacle to marry in Bali, BIDP Will Arrange All This For You.
