This site gets its name from the caves along the reefs. They are found in 9-12 m. of water and do not go far into the reef walls so they are very safe to explore. The caves are havens for small fish and invertebrates, like the nudibranchs and tiny baitfish that live amongst the corals and tube sponges.

Diving conditions: Medium currents. Suitable for snorkellers.
Travel time to destination: By mini-bus approx. 3,5 hours & 30 mins. by traditional boat
Underwater Topography: Soft corals and gorgonian fans. Tubastrea corals crowd reef holes from 3-9 m. Sea-fans and large sponges poke out from the wall as well as tridacna clamps and brittle stars.
Marine life: Crevices hide orange-strope triggerfish, black spotted pufferfish. Jelly-fish sometimes flow in currents here and you may see an occasional barracuda.
Main attractions: This site is perfect for challenging photography. Morning sunlight can create dramatic photographic situations of the reef life. |
